The latter two engines come from Ford’s EcoBoost® lineup. In the Explorer, you can opt for either the 2.3-liter EcoBoost® four-cylinder engine that delivers 280 horsepower, 310 lb-ft of torque, and up to 27 mpg on the highway, or the 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine that delivers a breathtaking 365 horsepower, 350 lb-ft of torque, and up to 27 mpg on the highway.* All three of the Explorer’s engines come with a six-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission, offering the ideal balance of power and efficiency.
To increase your confidence and control behind the wheel, the Explorer offers an available Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System™, allowing you to choose the best drive mode for the road or weather conditions.
Interior Design
Ford designed the Explorer’s cabin to meet the needs of all passengers. It comfortably seats up to seven and provides up to 81.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the front seats.
