Henry Ford built his first vehicle, the Quadricycle, in 1896. It wasn’t long after that when he established his own company, the Ford Motor Company, in 1903.
You won’t find a car company with a richer history than Ford. Henry Ford and the company he established helped revolutionize the automotive industry. Since its establishment, the Ford Motor Company has continued to be at the forefront of change in the world of automobiles, introducing revolutionary vehicles and ideas.
Only five years after the company was founded, the automaker introduced a vehicle that would change the automobile industry forever: the Ford Model T. The Model T was the first automobile that was affordable enough to be purchased by the common folk of the country. This caused the popularity of the vehicle to skyrocket. Between 1908 and 1927, 15 million Model T units were sold by Ford, making it one of the best-selling vehicles of all time.
How was Ford able to create this many models? With the introduction of another of Henry Ford’s incredible concepts: the modern assembly line. The assembly line system the Ford helped develop didn’t just change the way cars were made. It changed the entire factory system for every kind of product.
Ford’s success continued long after the company was first founded. From the acquisition of the Lincoln Motor Company in the 1920s to the introduction of the Ford F-Series in the late 1940s, the Ford Motor Company has expanded a great deal since its early days. Today, Ford remains not only one of the largest national automotive brands, but internationally as well, demonstrating the global influence that Ford has had on the world of automobiles.
