What is Ford EcoBoost?

Ford Ecoboost | Charleston, SC

Ford EcoBoost is more than just a standard turbocharged engine that offers increased performance and fuel economy. This engine technology combines several systems in order to truly optimize engine and transmission operation. Direct Fuel Injected, turbocharged performance, and Ti-VCT systems create Ford EcoBoost.

Direct Fuel Injection

Maximizing mileage out of each drop of fuel means equipping an engine with Direct Fuel Injection technology. This system shoots a mist of fuel into the engine instead of droplets. As a result, Direct Fuel Injection maximizes engine performance while reducing fuel consumption. The end result is a more thrilling ride and higher fuel economy across the board, including in the 2019 Ford F-150.

Turbocharged Performance

Ford EcoBoost technology uses exhaust that would normally be ejected to rotate a turbine. The turbine comes with a compressor that sends air into the chambers within the engine. In doing so, the turbine creates instant on-demand power that results in improved performance without negatively impacting efficiency.

Ti-VCT

Twin-independent Variable Cam Timing (Ti-VCT) optimizes engine power and efficiency by monitoring the valves. The system opens and closes the valves to match the load asked of the engine. This technology changes according to what’s required of the engine at the moment, making it one of the most efficient systems in the industry.
