If you aren’t concerned with your Ford Maverick’s towing capacity and don’t need to tow anything larger than a small fishing boat, you’ll be looking for the Ford Maverick powertrain that maximizes efficiency, the 2.5L I4 Hybrid engine. This motor provides the Ford Maverick with a towing capacity of up to 2,000 lbs., and has a payload of 1,500 lbs. More importantly, it makes a combined EPA-estimated 40 MPG and offers off-road packages, so you’ll be able to tow very long distances and take your truck in those hard to reach places.
2.0L EcoBoost®
Like the 2.5L I4 Hybrid motor, the available 2.0L EcoBoost® engine option starts off with a tow rating of 2,000 lbs. and payload rating of 1,500 lbs., but the available Trailer Tow Package changes all of that. When a 2.0L EcoBoost® and AWD powertrain configuration is equipped with this available package, the Ford Maverick’s towing capacity doubles that of the 2.5L I4 Hybrid configuration to a maximum capacity of 4,000 lbs.
