Saleen Racing

Some cars were simply born for the tracks, letting the vehicle’s unbridled power shine in the spotlight. Saleen, however, builds high-performance vehicles equipped to drive daily while also outperforming all competitors in head-to-head and circuit battles. From the Ford Saleen Mustang, to the S331 Sport Truck, to the Ford Saleen S7 Twin Turbo, your local Ford dealership wants you to know that when Saleen tosses a contender into the fray, it’s always for keeps, and the results have shown over the years. The company was founded in 1984 by Stephen M. Saleen, who is also the racecar maker’s CEO, and since entering the motorsport circuit in 1986, has compiled an astonishing resume. The company’s aptitudes in stretching out capabilities of Ford Mustang models led to the birth of the Ford Saleen Mustang, which earned six manufacturers’ championships. A pair of Ford Saleen Mustangs have even earned entry into the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. But the crown jewel of the Saleen brood is the Ford Saleen S7, which is a Ford Mustang-derived supercar to rival the world’s best. The Ford Saleen S7R is the full race-ready version of the Ford Saleen S7, and it won 19 of 32 races in its first year of competition, while also adding nine manufacturers’ championships and a first-place finish at 24 Hours of Le Mans. The current racing resume of the Saleen S7R looks like this:

  • 235 races

  • 154 podiums

  • 129 fastest laps

  • 118 poles

  • 78 wins

  • 10 GT Championships

  • 1 24 Hour of Le Mans victory

Saleen’s history of racing has piqued the interest of enthusiasts, and your local Ford dealership would love to point out that there is a way for you to enjoy the thrills of high speeds of a racetrack. The Saleen Cup Series, held in Oregon, New York, Wisconsin, and Nevada, allows racing enthusiasts to test drive Saleen vehicles in eight different races at the four locations: the Portland International Raceway, Watkins Glen (N.Y.), Road America (Wis.), and Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Saleen Cup Series offers two 50-minute sessions at each of the weekend events, and two drivers are allowed behind the wheel of each of the pre-selected cars. The Saleen Series is comprised of two categories: drivers up to 28 years old and Pro-Am Drivers 29 and older. At the conclusion of the eight-race series, the top driver from each category will secure a PAID seat in Saleen’s GT4 entry for the entire 2020 season! Saleen Racing’s storied past is moving into another decade, and so is your local Ford dealership, which is waiting for the next batch of racing-inspired Saleen vehicles to arrive in our inventory.
